Hello guys.

So on Tuesday I went into the dealership to buy a new PWR switch for my car as the current ones busted. Upon leaving when I get into my car nothing happens, mo crank, no abnormal noises...its asif battery is dead.

After trying to start in N and P multiple times it finally starts and the car was operating normally. Even this morning. However this afternoon it was dead again.

Battery is fine, Im not hearing any ticking sounds from the starter motor, the fuel pump is starting, radio and lights are working...but the car just wont crank over.

Ive read it could be the Neutral switch, but trying to bypass that by putting it into N with foot on brake doesnt work. Interestingly when I put my foot on the brake the brake doesnt depress like it does when the car starts.

Just something to note, I did the AUX mod to my stereo last week and also I have had the centre console apart because I installed a new leather boot. I made sure the selector indicator and selector were matched up. Just weird this issue has started since I did those 2 things...

Sorry, one more thing. There is a very slight 'tick' noise when I turn the key to crank, itll only do it once with every crank....it wont continue to 'tick' if I hold the key in the start position. The noise appears to be coming from the drivers side either the fuse box or battery...something down that side of the car.

So after checking relays, fuses and neutral safety switch I decided to give the start motor a tap...and what do you know, she roars to life.

Went down to bursons and picked up a JAS Oceania, I wanted Bosch but they were all out. I think these days everythings made in the same place anyway.

The old starter motor has something rattling around inside which Im curious to see what that might be. So all In all I think my cars starting to show its age, but if I keep looking after the thing it should last me another 250,000km.

2003 VY Berlina V6 sedan. Owned since 2006.
