I used to run 10/60 in my unopened LS1 and it was the best I found for reduced noises.

10/60 in an LS3 though i'm not sure unless you have heaps of Km's?

Why don't you just use Penrite Enviro+ GF5 5W30. It's fully synthetic, Dexos1 certified, and available at a reasonable price - around $53 for 5l and even cheaper when on special.

these new oils must have unbelievable sheer characteristics
blown hsv's I think still have the thinner stuff and are pumping out what 600 hp?

I run Castrol Edge 5-30. The engine is quiet and no complaints. It's all I will use now moving forward with leftover half bottles so I buy more. TBH I don't think the Penrite would be much different they are all good quality oils these days.

I usually stick to the manufacturer's recommendation re oil grade / weight. Changing it up can void warranty. Penrite all the way. But I like Nulon too. That said, I once filled my low k L77 with Penrith 10/10ths. It sounded like a chaff cutter. I put 5w30 Enviro straight back in and it's sounded sweet ever since.

In my LS1 the Catrol 10w60 made it noisier but that apparently is normal

Have Castrol 5w30 for the VE V6 and hoping its not gonna be a noisy goat

Big fan of liqui-moly products, and I've been keen to try their oils, but can't find any Dexos rated ones available here in 5w-30 (I'm sticking to manufacturers recommendations). How do you compare it against the others and which weight have you used?
