as everyone else has stated YES it is worth getting done BUT did you know that this insulation bonus has really turned in to a money maker for .......the CHINESE as i am told even the bradford batts are now being made there to keep up with demand so much for our local economy !
I actually make the insulation at Bradford ,yes it makes a noticeable difference nothing extroardinary, however none of Bradford imports are from china we recently exported to USA they are now returning our old stock numbers, definately ask how much more it would cost for4.1 batts they are a lot better... hope this helps
How hard is it to install the batts into the ceiling?? When I was helping to renovate the old folks home, installing the batts into the wall was dead easy. Just use a knife to cut the batts to size to fit inside the walls, push the batts into place, then install the plasterboard over the top. Job done. To the orignal question: Yes, batts do make a notable difference! Like others have said, during the morning of a hot day, close up all windows, and shut all blinds. Doing this, you'll find the temp inside is 6-10 degrees cooler then outside (This is for a brick veneer house). To be honest, I don't bother using the aircon during the day; only when the outside temp drops and the inside temp rises I turn on the aircon.
