CEL after applying handbrakes

Hello guys,
I have a 2006 v6 and have had issues for sometime now. The Che k engine light comes on and goes off on its own after sometime frequently.
Recently I have noticed that it comes on immediately after applying handbrakes when I park the car. It stays on for anytime ranging from a few hours to a few days and then it goes off.
Can handbrakes cause CEL or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Everything can cause a MIL. There is pages of possibilities in the manual.

So the only way you’ll sort it out is to get the codes read.

You can do that with an eBay OBD2 Bluetooth reader and a phone app.
