hey guys the central locking on my ute hasnt been working for ages, when i sit in the car and everything is silent and i push the button on the key there is a slight clicking sound coming from somewhere under the dash. It makes this sound everytime i click the button, do you know what the problem is? Would it be easy to fix? Any help would be great. thanks guys.

    ........

i was told that to program your new key head that all u have to do is put the new key into the ignition and turn it to the reds and wait 30seconds or so then start the car..... it's what a locksmith did on a mates car.

and for the people who cant unlock their car with the key head but can hear the clicking sound from under the dash or the indicators blink and interior light responds to the press of the button, well the answer is as simple as either the central lock fuse or a wire loose as the 'BCM' is still responding.. i had this problem with mine at random moments and after i pulled everything apart i realised it was a dodgey conection with the fuse which i found by pressing the button and wiggling fuses lol. hope this helps...

I have an original holden key for the 1995 Vs commodore two button key. Is there a way of opening it
and replacing a new battery in it? Also if i do it myself would i have problems with it such as central locking
and starting the car. I'm thinking about doing this within the next few days

Just confirming the VX 2001 keys can be done as mentioned here . I have changed batteries and switches without trouble . No reprogramming required thats bullshite. The theft deterent system seems to need contact of the key with the ring and the manual says the code on the key can be read by the car so that part seems true . The blinking red light will tell you if the system is still armed after you have turned on and you won't be going anywhere until it goes out.

I notice Supercheap are selling new key heads for $29 or so
