Has anyone got any feedback about changing a 1 window trip computer to a 3 window job.

What were the dramas? Is it a straight swap on a series II? etc.

I suspect the following thread might be useful.

Upgrading dash cluster to series 2 s-pack - warning!

Chuck 'cluster' in the search this forum and a couple of others come up as well.

I have never done this personally but starting to read the VY forum a little more since it looks as though I'm heading in that direction.

Provided you get the correct part number for your build date is a matter of plugging it in and programming it with tech2

you may have to look at upgrading the bcm to a higher series also, but don't quote me on this

    No need for BCM Change

The BCM change is needed if you want to install things like climate control aircon. But the BCM does not have a role in the cluster of trip computer, so you won't need to change that item.

As Dr Rob said, make sure that you get the correct part number for your build date, install and have a tech2 done.

If you get the wrong part number, you can get things like fuel guages working back to front.

I have recently upgraded a VS S2 Executive to a level 3 cluster (from a Calais), and will be doing the same to my VY S2 sometime soon. Can't stand computer errors, so need to be able to calibrate, which is not available on the single window clusters.

    Go for it.

Thanks Fekason. The hardest part is finding one without it costing an arm and a leg.

    Be Patient

    Hi,

I have been quoted $435 by a Holden dealer for a new one.

There were a few around last year, probably when ppl changed Berlina/Claias/Statesman to HSV types. They appear occasionally still, so I would keep a lookout.

I am waiting patiently for a source that does the changes to provide one. Hopefully that will be for a good price. If it works out, I will let you know.

    Thanks Fekason.
I would be really keen if you come across a supplier.

Can the fuel gauge issue be repaired if you put the wrong cluster in

    Change the Fuel Sender Unit.

    Yes, it can.

You can change the fuel sender unit, at a fair cost.

There have been claims that it can be corrected with the software, but I have not seen that validated yet.

Best to ensure the correct cluster for the build date of your car.

That's correct, the only way to correct the fuel gauge problem is to change the sender unit to make it compatible. I asked Holden for a quote and almost fell over........not cheap.
