Just found I have a rusted through brake pedal firewall plate.
*I was totally triggered by this*

So, luckily this is a simple panel that bolts to the fire wall.

I have a new one coming from Holden, $200.

Anyone changed one of these before?

Is there an adhesive on them? Could I do this myself or enlist a panel beater who can use sealants?

The interior is gutted, All I need to do is remove the brake booster and master cylinder (Tips?)
How should I best cover the break lines?

Will be towed to mechanic for brake bleeding and coolant flush.

This is the plate.

Next is to figure out why the rust happened.

I dread to find a brake master cylinder that has leaked through the booster.
All the insulation behind has disintegrated and is white and crusty.
It was resting hard against the heater hoses, making me also suspect a slow leak from old hoses that the insulation has absorbed.
The insulation panel isn't on (all) VF's in that location.

Trip to the wrecks for new panels too.

The bloody wiper cowl is also stuffed, as is the flappy cover over the wiper motor.

Would a VF wiper motor/windscreen cover/cowl fit the VE?

Unfortunately it’s not a simple job it’s a dash and heater box out job ac will need to be de gassed as there is one or two bolts from memory that’s not accessible with the heater box in place.

That’s cool because that’s all out. This problem was found while I’m doing the evaporator.

Figured out, I won't have to disconnect the brake lines! Woo!
I'll disconnect the booster from the Master Cylinder and take the whole lot out through the inside of the car.
I'll use some sika sealant (not an adhesive). That should do it.
