hey guys..finally figured out my coolant loss problem..its coming from the inlet manifold gasket..i thought it was coming from the top hose where it joins the thermostat housing, as i was getting coolant just below it..where the vakve cover is..anyways..anyone ever taken the inlet manifold off?? i know you must take the alternator off..can someone pls tell me how to do it..i enjoy a challenge so would appreciate any help..seems like each week theres something wrong with the car..since ive owned it i swear i would have something wrong with it each week..last week it was the brushes in the regulator that needed changing..what will it be this week??

Its not too hard for someone with a bit of mechanical skill.
Drain the coolant below the level of the manifold.Take off the heater hose at the back and throttle body and associated connections ,alternator .Take off the wiring connectors to the injectors and cable ties that locate loom in the manifold and rubber hoses off the fuel rail at both ends, spark plug leads.
Undo the bolts securing the manifold to the head and remove
Replace gasket. The gasket setup is in 4 pieces and from gmh is not real cheap.

Have that same problem with my VS V6, When i bought the car about a year ago i noticed that there was some coolant sitting around the top of the engine, and initially assumed it was leaking from the thermostat. Turns out i must have the same problem as you, Let me know how you go, if its not too hard i'll give it a go too...

mate i feel more comfortable now, seeing that someone else has the same problem..u know how much silicone i put around the connection between the thermostat housing and the top hose..heaps!!! and still i thought it was coming from there..anyway it doesnt seem that hard to fix..just need say half a day to do it..seems like a common problem with these cars eh?

Haven't you blokes heard of Barrs Leaks or whatever to stop such leaks - could be a lot cheaper and easier for something that is not major (like a split radiator or cracked head).
Most if not all "stop leaks" are compatible with modern coolants and they can give you that breathing space you need whilst you decide your next move.

    Fair comment hako,

Yeah guys, ever since i got my car it has done it. How i noticed it was, i took off the engine cover and noticed it bubbling up from around those little bolts that go down into the top of the engine. Must be a common problem because i have spoken to other people who have the same problem.

Let us know how you go!

    Scott
