Hey guys sorry if there is a thread about this already but I couldn’t find it.

I just need help with changing my manual gearbox fluid on a ve ssv?

Would it be the same as a 6 speed vz manual where you just drain the oil and then pump new oil with a pump in?

Just not sure on how people do it!

    Thanks heaps

Yip exactly the same as on VZ mate, I'd highly recommend using Penrite pro gear 70w75 in place of atf... It's a light manual gear oil made for these boxes and it's far superior to atf smoother shifting etc

as above is good stuff, go too supercheap and get yourself a tom thumb pump bottle, holds a litre, real easy then to refill under car you wont regret it

Is it right? That you need to fill while car is on? The 1 reason I havent done it myself yet, because I dont like the idea of being underneath while on lol.

    Manual box ??
    NO.
Simply drain the oil, replace the drain plug and fill through the fill plug until it runs out.
Wait till it stops running out then replace the fill plug.
All done while the car is level.

    Auto box??
    YES
If it has a dipstick. Some don't have.
With engine hot and running (preferably after driving for more than 10 minutes) remove dipstick, wipe clean, replace dipstick and remove quickly and check level.
    If unsure, repeat the process.

I know we are in the VE section, but I was interested in this thread as my VX Clubby is a manual. I've had the Clubby for near 12 years, I've ran up about 35,000 Km on it in that time (I bought it in 2006 with 68,000 Km on it). Don't think I've ever touched the gearbox oil. It has had some servicing at mechanics and some I done myself. In recent years it has traveled even less than the 3,000 Km pa average since I had it. I would only service it about every 12 months as it probably wouldn't even get started any more than twice a month, and the kms definitely less than 3,000 a year.

From what I've read you fill untill the fluid comes out the fill plug. Then remove then reverse switch and add a further 400-500ml perhaps someone with a ve service manual could chime in please

Nope no longer done on the VE manual boxes. Just fill to bottom of fill plug hole or just dripping out.

Are you sure the ve is still running a t56 which Is the same as previous generations .
Does anyone have a scan of the ve service manual for changing gearbox oil ?
