Is it as simple as removing the rack boots, and then unscrewing the rack ends from the rack? My workshop manual has nothing on this :p

Should be the same as VN rack ends. They just unscrew, right?

Does anyone know if a manual rack contains fluid, or grease?

Ahhh yes. I need to invest in an old Gregories at sometime. I've heard they contain a lot of info that Haynes missed out on.

haha, cheers for the help guys. Jayme, you're a champ. That pdf gave away the key - bending back the tab washers. Thankyou so much :)

Rack is now apart! Victory is mine! Now I can order new rack ends and tie rod ends :D May aswell get new boots too, so it's all shiny. Thankyou :D

Oh, and the rack and pinion are just lathered in bearing grease :D This thing is going to be too easy to mantain. I'm so glad I bought it!! :D

Cheers mate, I've just got to take the intermediate shaft to a steering/drivetrain joint to see if someone is willing to change over the uni joints for me. Once I get that done, I can order my parts off ebay, stick all my shiny brand new parts on the rack, and whack it all in the car.

Can I go out on a limb here and say that changing lower ball joints isn't something you want to do at home?
