Hey guys, recently did my fuel reg on the VS. Turns out it wasnt the cause of my problem but starts on first turn now. Pretty happy.

I went to REPCO and picked myself up a Fuel reg, Fuel filter and some Vac line for $135
Part numbers:
Fuel reg: 0280160552 $171
Fuel filter: RFF-1 $17
Vac line: 27043 $5.70

Tools needed:
Stubby phillips head
Fuel hose disconnection kit ($13.50 from super ****)

Step 1:
Make sure you have everything as pictured below.

Step 2:
Depressurize the fuel line and disconnect the battery.

Step 3:
Locate the fuel pressure regulator. Drivers side rear of fuel rail.

Step 4:
Disconnect the vac line from the manifold and fuel pressure reg. Unscrew the phillips head that holds it in place and remove it. Spin the line up so its out of the way.

Step 5:
Use your fuel hose disconnection tool. Put it on the metal line then slide it into the fuel line and pull (gently) the fuel line off.

Step 6:
Now that the hose is off with the reg comes the hard part. If you can not pull the reg off id suggest geting a bucket of boiling water. Let it sit in there for a few mines to soften the plastic an pull it off.

Step 7:
Put your new fuel reg in the hose and make sure you put a hose clamp on it just to make sure its not going to burst off. Then install the hose back on the metal line buy just pushing it on. Then install the new fuel reg onto the rails and replace the vac line. I replaced my vac line because my original one deteriorated due to faulty reg and i was using the windscreen sprayer line. Before starting the car, put the new filter in and job done.

thanks for the guide mate, I need to do this soon.

So its just a phillips head screw that holds the reg into the fuel rail?

Does it just pull off after that?

i had a problem were car would crank over a little bit before starting then changed fuel regulator and now it starts first time although the car dnt feel like it has as much go go as it did before hand, that could be just teh fact it takes off smoother and gears change smoother now to. maybe me spare reg is stuffed any way, repco wanted as u said $170 holden dont even sell them anymore! and then theres a local holden wreckers here that sell genuine ones for 44 bucks new, so i mite get one to be sure

also what is the probelm your cars having?

$44 new does not sound right at all. Holden still has them for $145 trade. But as you see my trade at REPCO got it cheaper. You can find them online ranging from $120 to $250, just search the bosh part number.

Having a short term fuel trim. Injectors is next on my list, then oxys then a fireball.

As for fuel line disconnection tool, I got one from Repco, part number RST208. Instead of a stubby screwdriver, I used a Philips driver tip stuck in a small (1/4" drive) socket spanner.
