Hey guys, My alternator on my VX went about 5 months ago so I bought a new battery and got a second hand alternator installed at the wreckers... Now the Alternator is gone again so I am going to buy a brand new one and new belt while i'm at it and install them both myself... I just called Cheapa Auto Spares and there alternators are $270 and belts are $53... Is there anywhere else that would be cheaper or anywhere I could try call? I am on the Gold Coast. Belt, go to Supercheap Auto. Alternator, I'm pretty sure I bought by Mitsubishi 120amp alternator from Holden Spare Parts for about that price, check your nearest dealer. Funnily enough the Mitsubishi 120amp is cheaper than the 100amp Bosch unit, so ask for it. Both carry genuine parts warranty. Also straight fitment.
supercheap, from memory belts are 35-40$. with the alternator, do a bit of shopping and few calls to get a fews quotes, from holden and other car shops. but in saying that you can pick up an 100amp bosch alternator off ebay for $150 COMMODORE VS/VT/VX/VY 6 CYL ALTERNATOR - NEW | eBay
wat makes u say the alternators stuffed? have u had it tested? could posibly just b the regulator. usually these can go 2-3 times b4 an alternator actually dies.
