Hi guys. Just took my SS for a drive to get some Subway with the wife. On the trip there i pulled out and over took a slower car which i had to do quickly as i only had a short area to do it in. Got to Subway, parked car, when and brought lunch. About halfway home doing 90 in a 100km area the check engine indicator came on so crept quietly home. Got home and let the cool a little then started it up and no check engine indicator came on. So took it for a drive and still no check engine indicator so i figured it might just have been a little glitch that the car decided to have. However i can now hear a slight whining noise that wasn't there before.
Off to the mechanic tomorrow but am wondering if you guys might have an idea what it might be?
Cheers all

Ok odd. Now the whine has gone, the check engine indicator has stayed off but there is a slight ticking noise but i don't know if that was there before or not because i am reving the engine with the bonnet up. Any ideas guys?

Just been a drive out on the back roads. Waited till the engine had warmed up and gave it some moderate and heavy acceleration to deal with (never exceeding 110km) and the car is pulling hard without missing a beat and the check engine light isn't coming on either. I can still hear a slight whine but i'm not sure if it's always been there (for the three weeks i've owned the car) or it's a new noise. Something i've also noticed is that i seem to have burnt through a lot of fuel in the last few days and their is a fuely smell near the exhaust, but as i say i'm new to V8's so at this stage i'm still learning whats normal and whats not.

Hahahaha! I love a bit of humour!

Well, if you don't have a cable to read codes (cheap one ebay) then you're just gunna be guessing. Mechanic will check them for you , but he'll charge four cables worth of $$$ to check once.

Taking guesses, I'd be cleaning the throttle body and maf sensor to start with. And checking all air pipes and little vacuum hoses for leaks, cracks, gaps.

The fuel smell, might be oxygen sensors gone. Try above first, if throttle body piping is oily, clean it out and spray internal maf wires clean.

Really checking of error codes required.

So got the code checked out and it's a transmission issue. Torque converter clutch needs to be replaced. The only time i have noticed anything is when i am reversing, feels like i'm getting bumped into from the front. So luckily the car yard i brought the car from is covering the repair, but unluckily the technician who took my car for a road test got a puncture while out in the car and rooted my tire.
