Just slammed the brakes on in traffic and shortly afterwards the check engine light comes on, pulled over car sounds and still runs fine but light is still on, any ideas what it could be and how to remove it?

    1. Take it to someone with a scan tool
    2. Plug it in
    3. Get code
    4. Go from there

Great more money and time I just don't have, I brought a new car to have less issues, I have never owned a car that goes through tyres so quick and has constant issues with warnings and such, does my head in.

You can get fairly cheap scan tools from gumtree/ebay. I recently got one for 30 bux which works with an app that was another $5. Done the job and brought up a code.

It did this about 6 months ago as all I was running was e10 at the time as I was strapped for cash for not working for 10 months, soon as I put a tank or two of 98 through it, it went away, got me thinking possible carbon build up due to crap fuel I was using, been skimping on the 98 as of late due to high fuel prices, putting in 95 and 91. Just filled her up with 98 and injector cleaner and ill see if that clears it again, the car is still running beautifully.

Yep engine light now gone after a tank of 98 and injector cleaner, must be a carbon build up.

Carbon build up will not throw an engine light AFAIK. You need to hook it up to a scan tool to see what code is logged. Even if the light has gone out the code will still be stored in the history.

Don't need to spend money yet. Clear code and see if it comes back or not. What sort of tyre wear are you getting. I have had next to none in over 50,000km.

Bit of a drive, cheaper to buy a tool or phone app
