I have a VX Calais 5.7L and my check powertrain light has been on for about a month. I have replace the diff oil and have taken into a mechanic who put on the diagnosis machine and said he couldnt find any faults. I have reset the computer by disconnecting the battery and the only fault with my car that I can find is a damaged tailshaft bearing. I have spoken to a few people who advised me there isn't any sensors on the tailshaft. Can anyone help? the last mechanic charged me $760 and still same problem?

$760 and still an issue, That's really bad!, I'd take it back!

Im not too familure with the genIII's, But from what i have gatherd.
There is no sensor's on the tailshaft, Only ABS on the CV's.

If the check engine light is on then there will be a code logged so I can't see why that mechanic couldn't find it. You will need to find out which code is logged to help find the problem. Take it back to the guy who seems to have charged a hell of a lot for not much and ask him to read the codes. What did he do for $760?

Thanks peoples, think I might take it back. The mechanic did a general service, replace all the filters and sparkplugs, clean throtle body and recons he took the tailshaft off to fix??? = $760 he wanted another $700 just for the tailshaft fix.
