Hey guys,

My front doors especially drivers door are really loose and can't hold themselves on a slightly tilted driveway even on a flat surface.

So, I want to change the check straps.
These are the latches that have about 3 positions to hold the doors still when opened.

I have attempted about 3 times at self serve wreckers, Iv unbolted the to screws on the car body and the other two on the door this was also done with the trim off.
But I couldn't get the damn thing out. Grrrrrr.
I really want to get mine changed done but can't.

So if anyone has done it before or knows how it should be done can you please help out. :)

You gotta pull it out from inside the door so the door trim has to come off

I have done that, the door trim was off.
I took the speaker pod out but still couldn't get the hinge out.

The bracket that the window runs in is in the way.

Hmm there must have been someone on here that has done it.

Try asking at the wreckers? If you're there anyway, they may have an idea?

I think the window channel is removable. There would be a screw with a nut and broad washer somewhere on the inner door panel after the trim has been removed.

The strap just has to be in the fully open position then you don't have to dismantle the internals of the door
