    Hi guys,

Just picked up my new SS Z series. LOVE IT.

Before I go and ask the dealer, though I would ask here first.

Looks like there is only 1 anchor point in the middle, which I am using now. The 2 sides have a piece of plastic which I think is where the anchor point is but looking at the holden book, looks like you need to install the hook and bolts.

Does this mean I have to go to holden and buy the hook and bolts and have them install it???? Or am I just missing something here?????

    Thanks guys.

Correct. Except you don't need to buy them from Holden, any baby shop or auto parts shop like Supercheap will have them. You just pull the plug out and they simply screw in.

Hey just a word of warning, the leather in the back is very soft, if you put your kids seat directly on it, chances are it will stretch the leather and leave a permanant mark as I found out the hard way with one of our seats. Also if it only has a single strap going to the anchor point, don't pull it too tight so as it squashes the rear head rest, it too is soft and will keep the squashed shape.

I now put a blanket down first to avoid the stretching on the seat, and I found that there was no advantage pulling the strap so tight, as it still allowed the same forward movement of the seat, backing it off so it just runs along the headrest snug but not tight saved my headrest but did not compromise my boys safety.

I personally feel the anchor point in the centre as is on my VE as well, is to suggest the baby or child seat should stay in the middle of the rear seat being safer than the side if there was an impact on the side there the child was.

Next week we have our 4 year old Granddaughter here for the week and right in the middle is where she will be going with a beach towel folded a couple of times under the seat to avoid damage to the leather.

In the centre for the child is also very easy for passengers to enter or exit.

I like my little man in the middle also for the reason of a side impact, but with another little man on the way, i need another anchor point! hehehe:wave:

I dont see the point of having 3 child restraint points installed from factory. Not many people have 3 child seat aged kids at once. You can easily take the centre one out and move it to the left or right side as you wish and just screw the blanking plugs out and move them around.

With curtain airbags, I would have thought they would be safer on the sides, on impact they are instantly cushioned, whereas in the centre they get thrown across the car before whiplashing back.

not sure a baby would take the force of an airbag so well, kinda why they say not to put kids and babies in the front seat with an airbag.

Baby and toddler seats have head restraints built in, so the airbag would only be stopping the kids seat from moving, as the kid is already securely strapped into the seat. From the centre though, the whole seat would whip from one side to the other on impact and possibly cause whiplash as the neck still isn't supported as well.

Not too sure about child seats other than the one our Daughter purchased a while back after the child became too big for the original baby seat. But this one is really fancy and looks much like a race seat in a way.
She's well tucked and strapped into it with the head restraint coming well forward on the sides I'm sure to help prevent the head from moving around too much with an impact.

Another thing I recall a couple of years ago was a friend could only place their child in a baby/child seat in the centre of their VE Commodore because when placed on the right hand side the airbag warning light came up. Not interested in trying that out on mine, but will be interested to hear of others with it on the side.

Oh how things have changed though since the late '60s early '70s though. My Wife had three Mini's over that time and our 3 children just sat in the back. Same if we took them out in my Holden or Falcon that I had at the time. All without disaster I should add. My Dad had a Morris Minor and there were 4 of us and we all sat in the rear when the family went out Sunday driving. Sunday driving.......OMG.

If it came with a mat it should of come with a clip and bolt as well there has just been a recall on the bolts on some car seats as well so it might pay to look into that as well my car seat and capsule were both affected.

Anchor hooks.jpg Tops news. My auntie got 2 spare anchor hooks from her VE SV6. Her car is a series 1. It would be a universal fit right? Im hoping. Will get them from her soon and try :lock:
