has anyone replaced the plastic intake tube from the throttle body to the intake box with a chrome pipe on a vs? ive searched everywhere but cant find any pics. ive seen a few on the vr but im lookin for it on a the vs
ive seen plenty on vrs but none on the vs.... best bet would just go visit the exast shop and get em to bent u a peice of stainless and bolt it all together
had one on the datsun and it was great. Not sure about the heat theory, it might reflect engine bay heat which could be a good thing.
well as for heat i was thinking about getting the outside of the pipe ceramic coated like they do with extractors that might help right
Ceramic coatings work in both directions, they slow down the tranfer of heat from the hot side to the colder side. If the air in the intake were cooler than the engine bay then the ceramic would help stop that heat from conducting in through the pipe. Physics states the temperature moves from the hotter substance towards the colder one. Don't know how they measure it but thats how it is. So if you put a barrier around the colder one (the intake) it is going to help prevent transfer of that heat inwards. But I would use just straight steel or aluminium as they heat up too quickly and stay hot. Although the plastic does get realy hot just like the metals it does transfer heat the same. Plus why add weight if it's not needed.
