I own a VZ with an Alloytec 175. I would like to do the 2 hole mod to my air box, but i have a few questions surrounding it. Before you flame and tell me to search on the forums, i have... HEAPS :)
what would be the best option out of:
- 2 holes w/ stock air filter
- 2 holes w/ k&n panel filter
- any of the above, except with a MCAI shroud which i have seen a few guys do.

is the shroud necessary? (if so where the F do i find one?)

Cheers.

Ive heard mixed reviews with the 2 Hole Mod. But from my knowledge, the cheapest route is 2 holes w/ stock filter.

I've info from several respected tuners the stock filter flows enough as is.

K&N filter will just oil up your MAF. Just stick with standard filter.

Great, cheers guys. And should I bother with obtaining a MCAI?

Just get a MACE CAI for your VZ, it's purpose built for your application, simple to install & has a much cleaner look.

It sure does look good and is better. Problem is, it's $270? :p Out of curiousity though, how much difference in performance will i get between the 2 hole mod and that mace cai?

Nothing really. Where as if you do lots of little mods you will get a fair bit. It's nothing really by itself.

i did a mcai for my vy v6... no real power increase but it did increase throttle response somewhat and just made the engine breathe better
you wont notice those sorts of things on a dyno in regards to power and torque but then throttle response isnt really something that will show up there

While we're at it, what other cheap mods can i do to an alloytec? the 2 hole mod seems to be the only one i've found.

Manifold spacers, but theres some debate about them.

Some like them for the increase lower torque (due to the intake runners being expended 12mm) and others claim that there was no difference.

Personally, i did feel a very slight difference.

They retail for about $150
