Afternoon ladies and gents. Picked up a coolant overflow bottle today from the wreckers, like all wreckers overflows they are a bit murky on the inside..

Found a way to clean it up a fair amount. Firstly tried shaking Degreaser around then opening the garden hose on to it, ddn't do much, then dried dishwashing liquid, not a lot happened there. My brother gave me some industrial strength degreaser, shook it around, let it sit.. this is the end result:

I know this is an old thread, but after "Googling" for information on the best way to clean one out (I had it out of son-in-laws car) and then trying a range of cleaning methods without much success including blasting with a Karcher cleaner (which didn't move much), then in desperation I put some kerosine in the bottle and shook the "s**t" out if it and "VOILA" it came clean and dissolved all the built up gunk that I was having trouble with. After this I then gave it a good rinse out with CT18 Superwash (the only stuff I've found that emulsifies oil, kerosine, grease, etc) I kept rinsing till the smell of kerosine was gone and then I put the very CLEAN expansion tank back into the car.
