Hi , the black wheels on the Redline are a bugger to keep clean. I have tried Armour all wheel cleaner, then rinse and dry per the instructions but by the next day the wheels seem dirty again. Anyone tried other products and what were the results? cheers

Welcome to having a performance car with gloss black wheels.

Lots of people have different opinions, but I have never found anything that really works. I've tried sealants as per what you use on your paintwork, I've used Mr Sheen, but none of them seem to last, BUT they do tend to allow the wheels to release the brake dust better. But don't last long before they need to be reapplied. Best thing I can suggest is to wash them regularly with normal car wash and an old microfibre car wash cloth (that will never go on the paintwork again) on a regular basis.

When it comes time to replace your brake pads, look at something with ceramic in them, as the dust isn't as bad.

The only way to get around this is to replace brake pads with something less dusty...but then you potentially mess with braking performance...

Wash weekly with microfibre and regular car shampoo if you wanna keep them clean...
Your issue is not what to clean them with....it is very messy brake pads ;)

If you can drive and dont tend to gutter rash your wheels, id suggest getting a ceramic coating applied to the wheels

Yep, had mine done when the car was done.

All I do is pressure clean them and they come up as new.

I got mine ceramic coated. When washing the car I first loosen of excess dust and grime with the pressure washer or hose. I use Bowden's Products on my car but for wheels I use Armour All Heavy Duty car wash because a) its cheap and b) its the wheels. I wash using a clean sponge and use a wheel brush only on the hard to reach places inside of the wheels.

I've been drying my wheels using Bowden's Boss Gloss as part of drying the whole car as per their guide (use a different cloth for the wheels though).

Should mention we get NO rain here and I've not got Brembos and the brake dust a lot of people say they produce, but for me, using this method they stay clean and glossy until the next wash. I wash weekly. This just my method if it helps.

I've been watching this fellow's videos for years, he has some good tips on detailing paintwork and correcting minor marks.

Note the wheel spacers on the rear of the Porsche.

I used autoglym magma on the wife’s wheels today with great results.

After agitating with a brush and rinsing

I found it extremely easy to use spray on leave to dwell for a min (but don’t let dry) give it a quick brush then rinse off with water.

Apparently it’s safe to use on paint as well instead of a clay bar

Autoglym products are the shizz. Chemical Guys, Ammo, Mothers, Meguiars are all top notch.

    I believe @JoshlikesCalais has.

I've used Bowden's Wheely Clean. Does the job well.

I used to swear by Sonax Full Effect which is what all the above mentioned cleaners and many others are based on, a bit like the original and still the best.

I first came in contact with it 15 years or more ago through a HSV package of goodies that came with a HSV I bought.

It’s still sold around the world but for some reason it’s no longer available in Australia.

So I switched to 1Z Colortec Felgenreiniger which does a good job but it stinks so much I can’t have the container near the house and as I bought it in bulk I’m stuck with it for a while yet.

I have sealed my rims and I wash them every week which means I don’t get much build up and heavy cleaners aren’t usually necessary so it’ll be some time before I run out of the 1Z.

I have some Gyeon Q2M Iron which I bought to remove tar from the paintwork of a car when I had no choice but to drive over a newly spray-sealed road and it did a tremendous job at removing the tar without any rubbing so I may use it for the rims when the time comes.

Bowden's now claim is that it "no longer smells like arse".

I never used the old formula but would make an educated guess that I would have dry reached if the new formula is anything to go by.

The Sonax had a noticeable smell when using it but you could easily live with it.

I put the 1Z container in the garage with the other cleaning products and the next day when I open the garage door I couldn't breathe the smell was so bad.

Silly me thought it would go away but it didn't and after a week I moved it down the back into the garden shed.

I like the Bowden products I've tried so I will give them ago as well.

I use the Gyeon Iron on my wheels, and it works as well as the Colortec.
Went for the Gyeon when CCP was out of stock of the Colortec.
