i have this clunk noise at teh front of me car on teh left. It happens mostly when i am in reverse and start to turn the steering wheel....is loud and also can be on both sides but not always.....seems to be mainly the front left. The struts and strut tops as well as stut bearings are new and the stabaliser bar rubbers are new and the link also (HD kit) car has only 78 500 on the clock it seems to happen maining when reversing and turning the wheel but has happened when going forward and moving teh steering wheel did jack car up and had a look but couldnt find anything sus (ball joints tie rod enda and rubbers etc) when i bounce teh car up and down and shake it there is no noise..only when i move steering wheel and in reverse!....hope its not in the rack:cry: cheers
possibly the radius rod bush moving forwards? Your new bush kit should sort that out. Is there any noise under hard braking ?
yeh was thinking the radious rod bush.....umm cant hear any noise when breaking but not saying there aint any noise though ill check later on me way to work when i changed the strut tops the noise went away but then came back about a day later...the strut tops are fine as i checked them the other day (other BRAND new ones were ****ed!!) im thinking maybe the radius rod bush on the left OR tie rod/end.....have to get under there again and give it a real good look while driveing there aint any clunks or weired noises only when i move car in revers and sometime while turning wheel in drive (not engin mounts or G box mount....replaced them on Sunday......what fun that was haha) can a ball joint also cause this? cheers thanks
well i went out and checked teh radius rod bushes and they look ok but when i got a spanner and tried doing the nut up it felt the the bush was a little soft (still intact) ....since levering it the noise has stopped and the steering wheel is now facing 11 O clock and not straight like it was earlier today....so will have another look tommorow also tried tightening the crossmember bolts and got about a 1 mm turn out of one (with allot of force though!!)
