Hi I recently got front strut tops done in my 08 sv6 bve commodore. Now I'm hearing when I reverse on cold startup, clunking is coming from the front, and defiantly noticeable. When I also come of my driveway I hear a small cluncking sound coming from passenger side front also. Taking it back to mechanic who fixed it. Any idea? Had wheel alignment done and also to mention slight play or loose steering wheel still.

Can be too many things, but check out the strut tops again for starters. How much gap is there when you look under the bonnet, between the strut Top plates and the body?

Was the noise there prior to the replacement?

I have seen where they haven't done the nut up properly, causing this noise

If there is a gap between the top retainer and the mudguard, with the top nut tight, the strut tops have been installed incorrectly.

Could also be sway bar links. Now that one component has been tightened up, another is now stressed more?
