I have a VF Series 2 Calais V V6 Sedan.

Whenever I reverse from park I hear a "clunking" noise. It sounds like if a "bar" or something is loose. I hear it more if I'm parked on angle and reversing up. I've taken it to Holden under warranty and they said it was the front bake calipers? They said they replaced, tested, and confirmed noise is gone but it' still there.

Anyone else experience this or know what it could be?

The noise could be a number thing's, take it back to Holden and tell them the noise is still there.

It sounds like your gearbox is taking all the load when you park.

Silly question,

Do you do the following when parking the car?
  1. Come to complete stop.
  2. With your foot still on the brake pedal, engage hand/park brake.
  3. Once hand/park brake is engaged place car in "N".
  4. Release foot from brake pedal.
  5. Allow load to be taken up by hand/park brake.
  6. Place shifer in "P".

My missus is terrible for letting the car roll back 'onto the gearbox' when parking on a hill. I've tried to drum the above procedure into her many times with no luck..sh1ts me to tears to hear that completely avoidable 'clunk'..

Never tried that but have heard of it. I'll give it a go this week.
