VZ Calais Impounded?
I was Driving my Series 1 VT Berlina yesterday on the Highway

Cruise control activated doing 100kmp/h
the car gave a shudder and revved out to 3000 RPM, engine light came on

so i disengaged the cruise control and slowed down to 80
moving my gear selector back to 3rd and up to "D" and it wouldnt kick into "D"

managed to drive about 20km home in 3rd.... each set of traffic lights it would rev out to well over 2500, even 3000 RPM at times before it would hesitate then "Slam" into gear. did this for both 1st into 2nd and 2nd into 3rd... still no "D" ( Overdrive )
I took it easy and sometime taking a good 500 metres to gather speed upto 80kmp/h.

I checked error codes as soon as i got home and got code 19
Code 19 is Throttle Position Sensor stuck open.
would this cause the trans to play up in the above way and lose "D" Overdrive?

what should i be looking at to repair it the TPS? .. clean it or just replace with new?
can someone supply a picture of this sensor or tell me where its located, what colour etc ?

or would i have a problem with my cruise control module or cable, causing the throttle to stick open.

I rarely use the cruise control unless im on the highway above 90-100kmp/h

help would be appreciated. thank you

I can't say for sure but I think the transmission uses information from the TPS, so it is possible I suppose. The TPS is on the throttle body, it is black and opposite to the part where the accelerator cable connects. They are not really repairable as far as I know because they just wear out over time, just buy a new one.
