I used to buy green beans on the net from some place in Sydney and roast them myself in a popcorn machine. It used to get bloody hot and I melted the plastic lid thingo, but you can get the beans exactly the way you like them. I have tried the espresso machine, percolator, plunger, moka pot and making it in a pot on the stove. I have an espresso machine and a percolator and I prefer the espresso. Tastes nicer. It comes down to beans and grind too. I buy whole roasted beans now and grind them although I want to start roasting again.
Just got back from Bali where we did a tour in the mountains and they had the Luak coffee, which is the most expensive coffee in the world, its the one that the Luak eats the coffee beans and then "passes" them and they clean them and make coffee out of them... Apparantely each Luak only produces 350 grams a year... Gingseng coffee is also my fav at the moment, its a mix of vanilla, cinnamon, coffee and gingseng...ohhh so good!!
I've heard about this, it is supposed to be really good. But then maybe it is just hype. How can a coffee bean taste any better once it has been through the arse of a Luwak.
Oh hell yeah those things are awesome. The only coffee i drink is this stuff....Medaglia D'Oro (No not the instant stuff) At $10 a kilo it beats $5 for a regular coffee at the local cafe, smug little punk with the emo haircut and tight jeans thinks he can make coffee now does he.
We've got a Nespresso machine @ work. I'm currently having a Roma, but have Indriya and Arpeggio in my draw.
Roma by Rio coffee is a very mild smooth coffee to drink in latta form. I rate that coffee very well - you know the type you can have 1 right after the first and not feel sick
I use the same beans $15 for 1kg from coles in my espresso machine. I have tried every other brand there except the $65 a kilo one and this stuff is awesome, better than all the others, even better coz of the price. Drinking it as we speak. The best coffee I have had so far is from a place called coffee mio in Thornbury vic. Gave me a free espresso with their own roast and beans, and oh my god, best espresso ever, and I have travelled Italy. Only $30 a kilo too.
Appreggio! my favorite, wonderful coffee. very good machines too those Nespresso's, i sell them at work. i'll drink coffee as long as its not crappy instant coffee, worst comes to worst ill drink instant thats of a decent brand. nescafe green blend seems to be good for the instant drinkers.
Good old Latte is my favorite. I refuse to drink Instant, and I'm not a big fan of drip, plunger, filter or perculator brewed coffee.....only espresso style for me. I'm a big fan of LaVazza and CoffeeMax coffee...(the roasting brands)
I drink Nescafe Espresso instant during the week and brew Robert Timms 'Mocha Gold' in my espresso machine on the weekends (usually)
Dad and I bought mum a Delonghi Nespresso coffee machine for mothers day (hey she can use it still ), best thing we've bought in a long time, takes little while to workout what you like. I don't mind Indriya, anything weaker I tend to find I have to use 2 pods which doesn't make it as economical, then again I only drink it on the weekends so it's not that bad. My brothers wife makes an awesome macchiato (think that's how it's spelt), great for a pick you up on a friday night. At work on the other hand we have Bianchi vending machines scattered all over the site, nfi what the brand is I just hit espresso and cappuccino, seems to work for me
I drink **** instant coffee all week, but love grinding and brewing proper coffee at the weekend. Can't beat the smell of it on a weekend morning! Not really up on the finer details of coffee making equipment - I just like drinking good tasting coffee!
