Hi all,

Starter fixing the brakes on my 253 vb.

Bought the new dics and pads but once I got to calipers started having issues.

The rear ones, bleeding valve on one was badly worn and other one snapped off.

The front ones I've managed to take off and they look ok

I just learned how hard is to find these calipers brand new or used in good nick..

I don't want an upgrade to vt brakes.

Can I use any other rear calipers of any other holden that will fit on vb? I saw somewhere that VS calipers are straight fit? Is this correct

Thank you

All rear calipers from VB-VS are the same. All front calipers from VB-VP are the same except the finned calipers used on VN V8 and VP series 2 on.

vb-vs rear calipers all suppose to be same, take same pads all look same.

Could try helicoil yours first.

If brakes are that crusty may need new brake hoses as well.

Vc commdore, any pics of them?

Most calipers I see on the ebay are finned.

I am also not seeing many VS ones for sale.

Rebuild is an option too, one brake said once the nipple is broken they are trash the other said he can fix it..

If I can buy either VS or VN ones and bolt them straight on it might be much easier. Plus I can still use the new VB discs and pads

Unable to post pics, but have used VN rear calipers on the back of my VC...Didn't put the VN caliper bracket on, just the caliper

Funny you saying that a brake place saying they are trash because they have a broken nipple....I actually had one caliper on my VC that had the nipple replaced, because 1 snapped off....It was only because I scored recoed rear calipers that I changed them.

Problem with most places these days is, they just want to replace, rather than repair....

Surely there would be a wrecker around Melbourne that is wrecking this era commodore? Ebay isn't the end all when it comes to buying second hand parts....Or do a gumtree search...Either of those should turn up a second hand caliper...And you can compare your old caliper with the new one you source and check that the bleeder nipple moves freely and the caliper isn't seized up....Got to be a win win situation
