What will be faster in a drag too about 0 till about 150km/h a vr commodore or a ef Falcon(both auto)? The reason im asking is because my mates are going to drag and betting money on it.

    Hmmmm I reckon the VS.

I've heard Falcon autos, are very sluggish.

im hoping this is on private road?

id put my money on the commodore, ive driven an ED on l's and they've got balls, but only really when there moving can you get them really going, never driven one of the older commo models but id still say commo, fords are pretty sluggish.. well they havent got the best handling on the accelarator in my opinion (older models)

i got fully flogged at the lights last week by one of the newer model futuras but the guy was this guy i know but dont like... i think he had his foot on go with handbrake on all along tho.. but i did have to merge about 100 metres ahead so maybe he was being smart

ef for sure, dont know any real facts but my mate had an el which i think is pretty much same as the ef and it beat another mates r31 manual which beat my vl and my vl beat his mums vs(and no his mum wasnt driving the vs at the time of the race) :D

    So heres the math...

    EL vs R31 = EL
    R31 vs VL = R31
    VL vs VS = VL

    1st: EL
    2nd: R31
    3rd: VL
    4th: VS

I have raced my friends EF with my VR upto 100km/h, I was one car length ahead of him, and the two cars were dead stock (now I have mods) with similar k's on the clock.

Off the line the VR will get ahead but get up around 100+ and the EF will get in front.

I can beat my mates VN and a V8 Statesman once.
    My ef is stock.

But it will come down to what shape the cars are in.

my experience, i flogged a ef ute manual with my VS ute auto. but if its an xr6 manual watch out i havent seen or heard of a slow one yet, i seen one cain a 5litre vr and not just beat it, flog it with no mods. bit of a freak car im my opion.

MY 2 cents,i've driven a EF and was a nice drive, smooth and fast but,my VS acclaim beat a VRII ute without any troubles at all,it also beat a VR sedan even easier and a 5L VL off a rolling start(doing about 80k)and it had no mods.If the VR can keep up with a good VS,my bet goes to it,if it cant out run a VL,its in trouble

ive been in both cars the vr is more aggressive but the ef has much more power especially high in the revs. the dude in the ef rekons his rust buket pulls 15.8.

Could go either way depending on whos car is prepared and driven the best. If it was my VR I'd beat on the VR, if it was my EF I'd bet on that :) but it will be close, they both have a good chance of winning and a good chance of loosing

P.S. A decent VR should do a 15.8 or better

my dad had a ef futura, went pretty good, just had bad take off, when he got the exhaust done it helped but still dosnt take off like a commodore, i think in quarter mile if the vr can get a good lead the ef wont catch up, they have really good top end until they hit factory limiter of 180k's,lol my vs is definetly quiker than my dads ef, but like a guy said above, beware of the xr6's esp manual ones , they go pretty hard, 175kw motors, fairmont of that model also had the xr6 engine.

Dont know about the XR6, but the fairmont with the 175kw doesnt go due to weight. In the days when my uncle had a VR, he had a race with his mate with the Fairmont with VCT (175kw version) and the VR won. This EF fairmont had mods too.

    Road Test

I have a road test of the VS V6 Manual for the equivalent F**d in 1996. I think that it was Motor magazine.

The VS lead the way early due better power to weight, but post 100 KPH the Ford got in front due higher overall power.

There might be some difference with the auto, but not much.

My prediction would be an early lead for the Commodore to at least 100, but eventaully the F**d would rein it in and draw away.
