Hey guys,

So I have my engine apart while I get my heads worked on and I'm thinking I'd like to change out my cam shaft for a stage 2.
I know I'll need to upgrade the valve springs, but am I also gonna need to install a higher stall torque converter or anything else?

Thanks :)

For ecotec I'd suggest the MACE Comp Cams cams, the stage 2 Comp Cams cam is more cam than the Crow stage 2 item. Definitely fit the recommended #105 springs/retainers and a double row timing chain. If you have the engine out, you may as well totally remove the balance shaft and plug the oil gallery for it.

Stock converter is ok but it would go better with a high stall. Something in the range of 2500-3000rpm will really make it sing (stock is about 1800rpm).

It's definitely an ecotec lol
Engine will be in the car as I don't have a hoist.
Was looking at exactly what you said immortality.
Am I gonna lose much drivability/low down torque with a stage 2 comp cam if I don't fit a high stall?

Wait so you suggest completely removing the balance shaft? As in the shaft underneath the air inlet?

Ok, so far I'm leaning towards:
-COMP Stage 2 cam and chip
-1.9:1 roller rockers
-105lb valve springs
-ls1 valve spring retainers
-double row timing chain set
Also my heads are getting shaved, mildly ported and valves re-seated and angled. As well as new valve stem seals, all the other seals and gaskets.
I already have extractors and free flowing exhaust, plenum spacer and a stage 2 shift kit.

Opinions?
