But WHY do you need to know when to shift in an auto? Also, if your music is drowning out your engine, then you are breaking the law here in Vic. We have the most relaxed doof doof laws in the country, will defiantly look forward to having more strict rules for loud music.

Minux.. seriously, this is blunt.. but **** the VIC rules about music.. I've had cops pull me up about my "boot rattles" wondering whats under there.. I show them, knowing full well if I don't I'll get a warrant on me.. Every single cop I have showed have complimented me on the sound, but warn me about the next time I might be pulled up for it..

But WHY do you need to know when to shift in an auto?
You don't. You don't need a lot of things, but you still buy them, correct?

so so true

Yeah I agree with that. Some people might like buying performance parts and some might like cosmetic parts.

That is bearable, it isnt a monster tacho and they usually arent taking up 1/3 of the corner windscreen. I have no prob at all with aftermarket gauges, i just dont understand why you need a 5 inch plate telling you what your revs are.

Anyways just a question, why do you need a tacho to tell you your gbox is slipping? Isn't it obvious enough with out? As for the track, i used my tach once when we had the rev limiter bypassed, otherwise i just use sound, you should know by sound how far your car will rev...guess some people cant hey

yeah i hear it if it has a boot full and slips bigtime, dont hear that gradual slipping if its just letting go a little bit. i cant hear it all the time, believe it or not my car isnt that loud. nice rumble but i dont hear the engine scream if the revs change a few hundred.
so yes, i know revs well, but i find it handy. aside from that i just like it!
like the lads above mentioned, 'because i can'... like your avatar pic, its there why? because you can. doesnt help with the performance of the site, doesnt make your posts any more interesting adn certainly doesnt make any difference as to when your car shifts its slippery little auto!

I have a tacho in my car. not monster, not stock either. ive fount it very useful on a number of occaisions. i know when the box is slipping, (cant always hear it) it was useful when the speedo stopped working as i know roughly what it should be cruising at etc etc.
Used the car on the track once and found it useful then.

and guess what? its an auto.
So for those people who continually open their fat mouths because they dont understand, go look up some porno or something more appealing.
um guys this might be a shock but a tacho is just as important in an auto as manual! so i guess a few people haven not heardof b&m shifters? anyone following me?

Yes because you 16 second commodore really requires having a b&m shifter set up.

But then it works on my dads fj. someone told me i had to get some sort of power inverter or something. ill see if i can find a pic of mine.
