words from my max ellery vn-vp book below
Code:
[B]Compression Test[/B]
"1. make sure the engine sump oil is at the correct level.
Run the engine until it is normal operating temperature.
[COLOR="#FF0000"]Remove the spark plugs[/COLOR].
2. Remove the Eng Comp and Eng Inj Fuseable link adjacent to the battery.

seems my max ellery says to remove the spark plugs now that confuses me, all of them at once while testing really :eek:?

Yes (all the spark plugs). You want the starter motor to be able to spin the engine fast enough to get meaningful results, not dragged down compressing air in the other cylinders. Also, have someone hold the throttle open for you or chock it open at the throttle end while you do the tests (I'm sure that's in the manual though). After each initial test, squirt some engine oil into the cylinder and repeat. That will seal the compression rings, if they are leaking, or indicate that it's a valve that is leaking in a cylinder with low pressure in both conditions (dry and wet with oil).
