Well as the title says im considering a change, i love my car but its just a money sink, itll never be finished, theres allways something else to do.

problem is, i dunno what its worth... i look at carsales.com and autotrader and see people selling stocko VS in reasonable condition for $3000-5000 and think well mines had a lot of time effort and love put into its gotta be worth $5000+

so im just curious what others think it maybe worth, or atleast what would be a good starting point if i was to put her up for sale.

sorry to put another whats my car worth threads here but i just need a bit of help on a price.

heres a link to my ride

currently she has 274,000 K's on the clock.

Seriously mate these things arn't worth the cash regardless of the money spent, sad thing is it'll probably never sell over $2500 maybe $3000 if your lucky... Thing is it's basically stock, although it's tidy by the looks people can pick up a great looking VT for not a whole lot more over $5000, you might be lucky and find someone willing to pay the cash you expect, but no one here would agree selling something like that for anything more than what i quoted above is a good idea...

This here is the reason that i bought a calais model! although its not worth a whole lot more then an exec model its still got something going for it when the time comes for me to sell it! I think mate that you would get as said above $2500-$3K! Its a shame actually that the VS models don't hold a good resale value but they are quite a good car!

agreed if you want to get anywhere near your money back you will have to seperate it all!

sell off the kit, etc and make it back to stock condition

considering the k's id say around 3g aswell

I sold my VS about a year ago completely stock for 4 grand, but it had 80,000k's less than yours. The km's are the real killer on the car mate. I'd expect no more than 4 grand for yours either.

unfortunatly i know its worth maybe 3-4g tops but to the right person, maybe someone looking to start a project it could be worth a bit more, but then again gotta find that person.

i live in rural area so cars are worth a bit more here, for example in the city a stock VS will go for 2-3k here it will sell for 3-5k

problem is ill never make my money back so ive decided i either need to sink some serious dollars into it and make it that ultimate sexy kick ass car that will be my toy, or i get rid of it now and cut my losses.

    bloody cars, expensive hobby....

Something that keeps me occupied on the VN, is the fact that im just going to lose more money purchasing a newer car anyway. I don't like the idea of losing money to depreciation, so im just as happy to make my car into exactly what I want it to be rather than just losing market value every year on newer cars. I'd rather my car than a stock VZ for similar money spent. But once you start to really customize a car it makes insurance hard and if its ever involved in a serious accident that could be the end of it.

I think you should just keep it mate:thumbsup: You've done alot of work on it already be a shame to get rid of it now for such a small amount of money. Can always get a reco'd ecotec in the future, or a V8 :yeah: Good luck with your decision ;)

    Edit: grammar

for the time being i think ill keep it, after talking to some mates i come to the conclusion the only real reason i wanna sell it is cause the body/paint. i have a few small dents, rooted bonnet and drivers gaurd.

so i think if i can get myself motivated to get the body fixed and a new lick of paint id be pretty happy with my car.

allthough im still considering sometime down the track getting a VT/VX calais or berlina as a daily driver and garage my VS so i can do some serious work to it.

This is the reason why I have no plans on selling mine for a long long time. I'd like to keep it to one day pass it down to my son (who's now only 3 weeks old). I sold my first VS exec with 384,000ks on it 2 and half year ago for $2400.

If paint and body is a problem then being a white car it'll be easy to find panels at a wrecker or ebay and you'll be amazed how good a pro detail can make the car look.
