Hi all,

I know the dfi/coil pack discussions have been done to death, but...

My vx commodore was missing badly under load, and engine backfiring. Mechanic said that'll be the leads for sure, replaced them and felt like I had a new car, for about 3 weeks!

Started up again worse than ever, predominantly skipping / stuttering under any sort of load. Browsed the forums , thought I'd replace the coils, no effect. All are sparking.

Any thoughts? I assume not the dfi as all coils are sparking? Probably not the CAS as sparking?

Cars done 260k. Used to be factory dual fuel but ripped the gas out about 30k ago. I think in doing that something got unplugged as I can't get a scanner to read the ecu for codes now :/

Thanks all

If changing the leads fixed it for three weeks, I’d be inclined to revisit them as the issue.

Next step is plugs as they are cheap and see if it helps. The Holden V6 chews through plugs quicker than a lot of other cars. I replace mine probably 25-30k. Other cars get 40-50k from standard plugs.

Thanks both. Tmi678 that's a good point, I thought it was odd that the problem went and came back.

I'll look at changing the plugs over the weekend losh1971 as I can't think when they would have last been replaced and see how that goes

If you run out of options and can't fix it you could try changing the TPS.

Interesting my plugs are worn by 25 - 30k. But it's only one side that wears.
