Vk commodore 1986
Hi Just wanted to know is it possible to put a V8 in the 1986 Vk commodore.
This was brought into the New Zealand market.
Will it fit in the engine bay? Is it even possible being it was brought out in the 4 cyclender to the NZ Market

Thanks.

Not sure the 4 cylinder body would have the same strength /integrity as the 6/8 versions ,not sure the braking system would even be the same, assuming you can id imagine you would need to upgrade front and rear suspension. My thought is the 6 cylinder VK version would probably be easier to swap out... if your thinking of putting a chev engine in it gets even more complicated ....

Body is the same...Brakes...Swap for the 6cyl/V8 system...Both identical....springs...Can leave 4 banger springs in for a lowered look at the front or swap for V8 springs...Struts are identical.....Change diff if you want....Have done a 6 into 4 cyl body and the 6 got off the mark quicker, but revved like all crap at cruising speeds...ie 60+ KPH....

Finally, doubt the OP will be back...Has done the usual stuff...Post a thread and disappears straight after, thinking we're like facebook

Yes a v8 will fit and why wouldn't it. Same body, one size fits all. You will have to upgrade to v8 specs. Unless you intend to keep it for a long time don't bother. It will always be a four cylinder car with a v8 fitted.
