I currently have a vx 2002 acclaim (Auto) and was wondering if I should convert it to manual.

How much of it are you doing yourself? if you have to pay someone to do half of it.. probably not worth it.

Well my friend will do it for me if I buy all the stuff for it. I just want to know if it is going to run fine or will it not change properly or break down or something.

I converted my VX Wagon to a manual and it is brilliant. I have never looked back.

It's totally up to you. Some will say yes, some will say no.
Do you want to drive the car (manual), or be lazy (auto)?

I am all for helping people out, but sometimes you just can't rely on people to do ALL the work for you.
You obviously have access to the internet. Do some research. Pick up the phone and call around. Prices vary greatly.

can also depend on the box in particular you want.
and its condition and everything else.

just don't forget everything else you will need aswell if you do go ahead with it.
and the added cost

I did my vt wagon and I love it
Cost me about 1800 with a new clutch and some bits here and there.
That's all work myself though, will cost a fair bit of labour to pay someone.
If you aren't doing it yourself it's probably cheaper to buy an existing manual.
