VY Commodore 3.6 ecotec
Hi, I would like to convert my VY into a L67 manual. Ecotec in it has 175k on the clock. Problem is I'm finding it really hard to pick up a factory VY L67. I would like to get a manual box with the L67 and loom etc if I can But if not I guess I'll have to buy a manual box with loom conversion kit and convert my auto to manual then put the L67 in?

Any advise about converting my ecotec auto to L67 Manual?

The only easiest way, would get a Monaro L67 and Manual box combination and drop it in, I thinks classed as a CV6 ?
Otherwise you will need to keep searching, and get bit by bit and assemble it,
Keeping in mind, try and get the original ECU with the L67, as it will make it a bit easier to fire up after its programmed correctly.
Taking into account, you will need to bypass the Auto inhibitor switch/mechanism,
I think there is a different loom for that.

There was no factory option for a manual transmissions with L67 so you will need to do your own conversion.

T56 conversion will handle l67 with ease....budget not so much.
Did vy 6cyl model get getrags or auto only?

I see VY manual tunes in my database so it must have been an option.

L67, T56 with 3.9/4.11 gears Yes Please!

I think most of the L67’s had Auto’s,
we’re manuals were an option.

There were no L67 manuals that I ever saw otherwise vs model would have had & been sought after.

Thinking about probably manual v6 utes out there can't say I ever noticed factory manual v6 sedans.

Fairly sure Mal Woods & Dellows have the gear to do t56 conversion...years ago had a getrag in v8 torrie, liked it but if it ever broke rather go t56 than replace it especially after looking at availability & price of flywheel/clutch replacements etc

So after some more thought and information you guys have provided. I'm thinking of stroking my ecotec to 4.2l and then go turbo with a T56 manual and short shift kit.

Up to you but stroker will cost you $5k + if you do the assembly yourself and won't make a huge amount of extra power. Intercooled twin turbo on the other hand will make a huge difference. Go Turbo and don't bother stroking.
