When it says have the heater on full boar to let it flush the heater box does the ACC have to be on or can it open up with no power.

And then what? Stop the engine and then drain and flush (after all I`d` only do it when the water/engine is cool cause " I don`t` want to go to hospital " ..LOL.. That did not really answer my Q. :cops:

You need to have the engine running to flush water thru the heater - the heater tap is vacuum controlled so the engine must be running otherwise it will be closed. This applies to all models.
So if you want to flush the heater just run the engine with the control to hot....this can be done with a cold engine as the coolant which goes to the heater does not have to pass thru the thermostat...it goes via a by-pass.

might as well post up here, no need starting a new thread

ok i've just flushed my cooling system, bought some pre-mix stuff, now checking the lil books they have round the coolent section, it says that the v6 cooling system is 12ltrs.. but i couldnt seem to get more than bout 8ltrs in, thats with the heater on and with a good flushing..

anyone seam to know of the top of their heads, the cooling systems capacity?

The book says 12 litres as you say....but I've never got more than 8 litres in either - the rest is in the bottom of the block and the heater and under the bottom hose. Do mine every 2 years for the last 6 years with same result.
If you add concentrate it doesn't matter....50% concentrate means you add 6 litres (but the concentrate comes in 5 litres containers!!).

Yeah tight arses hey. The only way to get all the water out, is to remove the knock sensors. Otherwise 5 litres is enough to add to the diluted 3 litres still in the block.

A worthwhile investsment i picked up around christmas from repco on special for $2 is a coolant tester meter, tests concentrate and boiling temp.

    You don`t need pellets anymore

See what the pellets do is lubricate the water pump, heater controls and codition`s all hoses it was fine to use them pre 1997 as coolant back then did not contain the nessesary chemicals to lub them but all the coolant post 1997 has this standard ( read the fine print on bottle and it will say 2108:1:1997 (type B) coolant (green).

    :undead:
    pellets
