most performance chips only alter WOT so has nothing to do with EPA at all as they dont test WOT

    lol
Regardless of what some individual police may believe, the truth is that they are no faster than Joe Public's Exec bunky.

sorry my post was a bit harsh but this topic has been done to death around here. And confirmed time and time again by people who have read the memcals from police cars.

Okay he drives the black VE SS with the blacked out window undercover. They don't bother buying HSV gts cos the extra 10KW is not worth all the extra money. When they get them they switch from 18" mags to 17" to save money on tyres and ****.

Not lately, considering the last BA XR8's were decommissioned in early 2007 due to an unresolvable stalling problem when making tight turns after long periods if idling.

cop chips exist mine has a special bonnet scoop thing - i think some bank robbers put some speed holes in it too somewhere so i heard but may have been taken out at auction because the car was too aerodynamic for civilian use

maybe it does but so does every1 else on this forum so basically there doing it to keep up with us, they can only get the same out of a stock engine as we can there is no 2 ways about it. Just coz its a cop car doesnt mean u can do a tune that adds 100 kw thats just stupid talk so why do we have to keep covering this same bloody topic every month

what modifications do they do on the ss police cars??????...........

in WA the cops here are only allowed 6 bangers - so no ss's or v8's the only decent cars they drive are the ford xr6 which i would tend to say are not anymore powerful than any other stock xr6 out there.

I own a vp bt1 which has 86k on the clock and trust me its no more powerful than anyother stock 5ltr with 300k on the clock - even the chip is a standard poverty pack chip

it's already been established time and time again that they did change things like idle speed on some models, notice how I said no performance modification to the ECU is made
They don't do ANYTHING to the motors ;) not even 1hp different. Probably actually one or two less occasionally because their oil changes are MILES apart.. used to be the case anyway.
Ditto for my VR BT1. Had the BT1 memcal which was THE SAME TUNE as the exec v8.

    Lol at this topic.

To be clear, we've had tuners look at the binaries and say they are the same, we've had serving police state that there are no performance modifications to their vehicles, we've got people who own ex-police vehicles saying their cars perform the same as their civilian counterparts - what else do you need?

Seriously, this is just like God - you can believe in cop chips based on blind faith from what some guy you met told you, or you take the evidence-based approach and come to the much more logical conclusion, that cop chips really do exist, but only in the land of unicorns...

They really ARE cop chips in cop cars - They just have the same tune as all the other thousand's of chips.

They have cop shocks and cop tyres. Sunnies in the glove box for driving at night. Lots of cool stuff.

They may even have GUNS too in the boot to SHOOT people with
