Yeah it kind of sucks, I was pulled over about 5 times last month for just random checks.

Though its something we have to put up with, I know were the police are coming from every time I turn on channel 9 news, 80% of the time I see a fatal car crash and 70% of the time it is a idiot P plater.

I can see both sides of the story. Thankgod I get my full licence next year, I will be burning those P plates :p

On saturday night I saw a car (In non smashed condition) getting loaded onto a tow truck, police behind it light flashing, This was in ringwood.

I feel sorry for the kid losing hes car and he didnt look happy either, but I was glad the cops had taken an F wit driver off the road they would have had good reason i'd say he was probably dragging or doing burnouts fairly common for that area, im all for drag racing and burnouts, so long as its not on the public roads full of innocent people.

On a lighter note my mate who is a P plater resisted the temptation to drag some numb nut in a VL turbo, we pull up next to them at the lights, my mate is 21 they looked about 18 and barely that, they looked over at us, nodded, my mate ignored them.

The lights changed they took off, my mate just smoothly and easily glided up to the speed limit in hes 99% stock VR not willing to be involved in that crap.

They made several other attempts all were ignored, better education and hormone control I say.

well over here in canberra there are alot and i mean ALOT of young people doing burnouts in there cars and because there arent really enough cops to take care of everyone, anyone off the street can now "dob in" the persons number plates and the cops will go around and have a chat to them, but if the same plates get caught something like 3 times for the same incident, the car gets impounded for 3 months and the person gets a massive fine along with a 3 month suspended license, then if their stupid enough to do it again the car gets sold at a police auction and again suspended license. i agree with transman, too many young idiots bring the rest of us down with them, but hey, free dyno??

I will bet the dyno wont be free, and im quite sure we will see the police sending any P plated car with any mod to get a dyno check at the owners expense. They dont give a **** if it costs you money to prove your car is under the limit. We are supposed to have the system of innocent till proven guilty but the onus (and expense) is always on the owner to prove the car complies with regulations. The defect checking system worked a lot better here in QLD when it was run by Queensland Transport Inspectors who actually know about cars and the regulations governing them. They would look over the car, write the relevant ticket and you would go over the pit only to show that you had fixed the problems listed on the ticket. Not like the current system where the cop doesnt really know whether your car complies with regulations or not because they dont specialise in that area and send your car for inspection anyway because they are uncertain of your cars compliance.

Who gives a f*ck.. I love being pulled over..

It makes me feel safe. If my car ever gets stolen, I'll rest easy they'll probably see blue and red lights, even if they're obeying the law.

I think random breath, license and rego checks are great. It keeps drunk, unlicensed and unregistered vehicles off the road, at very least it takes them off the road..

I dont think I mentioned it is just P platers getting pulled over? That would be stupid saying just P platers get pulled over wouldn't it

Either way back on topic

I just want to know whether the Vic police willl have a problem with my car and my dusty NSW green P's when I go there for a visit in August. The NSW police have pulled me over for random checks a few times as well as for speeding and did not say anything about the car.
