alright now some of yous may know i got slotted brake disks etc.....i installed them a while ago like how they came off the car.....but now i have been reading a few car mags etc and i see they are installed differently then the direction mine are.....so my question is which was is the correct way? any pics would be good thanks
cheers for that "WAGON MAN" ...looks like there on teh right way after all as for braking id have to say it does help i did have bendix ultimate pads on there (front and back) but **** me they were dusty as ...after one day the wheels were black!! the pads i have on there now are the normal bendix which i got with the rotors (rotors and pads came of a car at wreckers....both near new) and after 3 weeks the wheels were still clean. I do have to admit though that the ultimate pads pulled car up allot better but when you are highway driving the slotted rotors help allot especially with quick stops from 100. I got them mainly cause they were cheap and i was looking into replacing my front rotors and i saw these ones at wreckers that i got for like 176 for all 4 basically brand new
remember is not always the case. if they are branded, they generally come with a sheet to say which way/side they go. some slots are made outward venting, and some inward venting, which way you have them wont matter if the internal vains are straight! if the internal vaines are curved, they need to be installed the correctly regardless of the slots direction. i'll find you a pic of what i mean.. Edit: check this post.. http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/forums/showpost.php?p=968113&postcount=14
it will make a difference as the pad is wiped by the rotor any crap is assisted by the spinning of the rotor to help pull it outwards, inward venting to me is like ****ing into the wind. but the DBA rotors will have a R and L on the part number
i agree, most brand names are done properly, but some no name rotors arent. but if the internal veins arent facing the right way and venting the heat out of the rotor, its not cooling properly and hello warpage most are curved veins and need to be correctly installed, if there straight veins, set the slots to vent outward.
I had front set put on about a year ago,it came with L & R stickers to tell me which one went where. The slots seem to go with the direction of the rim rather than against,i'll put up a pic tomorrow if i can to show you what i meant
mine didn't have L or R stamped on them but they are on the right way as i compared them to the DBA site (there DBA rotors)
actually the big pic above is exactly how mine is set up,providing the brake caliper is more towards the front of the car
