aren't they independently run? Why do you say that? They also service other cars other than holden and sell other cars that aren't holden..
They usually won't fit something that they didn't sell you, claiming it's because of warranty-related entanglements - "what failed, the part or the installation?".

You can pay me 470 to install a set of new Struts anytime :)
Holden is making a smart business decision there I reckon. $470 for 2.5 hours work for a good mechanic on a hoist. Good on them. If they don't improve their image from what it's been in the recent past they'll be finished, so thumbs up to the dealer. Bet you that there will be some extra parts needed though, not that that is Holden's fault, and they should have them on hand ready to go.

Exactly infact, I've had 3 quotes and one of them the mechanic said, I don't know how to do it and charge 110$ hourly.. no thanks. Holden I would assume have done this before and if they haven't they would have diagrams and easy aaseable information.
Just opened all the boxes to the shocks and I'm missing one torque bolt. Spoke to the place I brought them and reckons they should have that bolt anyway.
Keen to get them installed on Friday.
Now to get some love handles put in "Jesus handles" and possibly re upholstery of the drivers seat.
Feel like chasing power is an endless dream. Going for comfort if I'm going to keep the car for a couple of years

Yeah but some people don't no how to change a wheel or check the oil, If your not mechanical minded get someone to do it as you have to remove the spring.

How many you doing 2 or 4? They only replace the nylon nut as they are a one off use, but saying that a little lock tight will do.

Come do it for half the price? Im not a mechanic and I'm not interested in learning how to do it.

I wasn't talking about you, talking about the mechanic who doesn't know how to replace Struts.

Take it to a good suspension shop as they'll know more about it than the dealer and a good shop will also offer a competitive price.

All the suspension work I've had done through the dealerships over the years have always been outsourced to the local suspension shop who the dealer has an agreement with and the dealer then adds a little commission over the top to make a profit off the vehicle owner.

Side note: I can't believe a qualified mechanic would say they can't do it but still I would always go to a place that specialises in suspensions and not the local mechanic.

For example when I had my Ute done the front and rear subframes where all loosened off to take out the tension then re-tensioned to factory specs once the work was completed, that's just a little extra that I doubt a dealership would bother with.
