Could Holden pull off a ZB SS?

It'll do me.

That's fine, but that usually plays second fiddle if some buyer was specifically looking for something SS-ish, and if they're specifically after a performance option Holden are way behind the 8 ball which is why the VXR Commodore isn't selling in spades.

If the current pricing of the VXR Commodore is an indicator and price increases as they step up performance to put out an SS with existing performance alternatives then it'll fail for sure.

. So a supercharger should fit under ZB bonnet, would sound great and would be great fun. Not sure if the engine can take it and if it would be economic, given the low volumes now.

The ZB uses a version of GMs "High feature" engine, pretty much the same as an alloytech. Cadillac have been running twin turbo version for a while now, the current ATS-V manages to wring 346 kilowatts out of one. That proves it can be done, not sure how difficult it would be to package one in a ZB though.

If you look at the history of Holden, often the most powerful engines in Corvettes and Caddies end up in a Holdens a couple of years later. Last one was the LS9 Corvette engine, before that the LSA Cadillac, before that the 7 litre Corvette in the W427. Way earlier, the 327 and 350 were other engines that were first in 'vettes, then in Holdens.

I am betting some engineer has been stretching a tape measure around, scratching their beard and wondering if it will fit.

Not to mention the price of the Mustang compared to the current VXR. Totally forgot about the Mustang, would really have to compete with purists there.

The LGX (3.6 litre) is a new design, little in common with the Alloytech/SIDI V6. On paper, it has heaps of power, more than old LS1, but look at the torque curve - you have to rev the sh1t out of it.
