I'm wondering, while I am at a steady speed I feel nothing wrong with the car, however while pressing on the faster pedal (even lightly) my car is gutless, it has different gear changes and can feel vibrations as I drive, when speed steadied out, its smooth again. And when selecting D or R it takes ages to "clunk" in. Could sagged engine mounts cause this? If things aren't aligned from sagged engine mounts could it have this affect? Cheers
No. The engine can sag downward with worn engine mounts yes, but the transmission is bolted to the engine and rear transmission mount to chassis. The driveline angle will only change slightly by a couple of degrees from new to worn engine mounts. Have you done an under bonnet and body check?
I have done a rough look underneath, I know I need new tyres and suspension on it, and prob a new exhaust system. But everything else looks fine
Have you checked the fluid level in the transmission? If that is low they can be slow to change or engage gears. If the level is correct when was the last time it was serviced? Old and/or burnt fluid can exhibit the same problems.
I thought that too but when I check for DTC's it shows coede 12 which is no problems and I figured it would throw a code since the trans is through the pcm
Yes there could be no codes, but there still could be a mechanical problem with the transmission. How many KM's on the car? I would recommend a full transmission fluid change, with filter and throw in a stop slip additive (Lucas is great, so is Nulon). See how that goes, but be aware, you would need to drive the car around 300 kms to notice any difference if any. If that doesnt fix it or cause better shifts, then the trans is more than likely on the way out my friend.
