Hey guys, just stripped my motor down and found that both heads have cracked between the valves on every one. The car has ran fine and hasn't ever over heater once, how much would it cost to fix or would i better off finding a replacement set. And the heads are off l67.

Wow !!

If I'm correct there's not much in it between the Ecotech and the Supercharged version so replacements would be a cheaper option that's for sure.

Cheers and Merry Christmas in a kind way.

Its extremely common, it never seems to create issues though. Just find another pair of heads.

Almost all are cracked. You'll struggle to find a set that aren't cracked. Small cracks are alright - I have a head here where the cracks opened up a fair way. It's because the l67's run hotter.

L36 heads physically bolt on, but they don't have the holes for the injectors. You can have them drilled out though (the bosses are there) if you can find somebody capable.

First mod should always be 180°C thermostat followed by altering thermofan on/off settings in the tune.

Fitting a decent CAI also helps em run cooler too.

Thank fellas, ive got cai for it already and ive just put in another thermo fan at the front and will be definitely getting a 180°c thermostat then. I might look into getting some holes put into some l36 heads aswell. Cheers.

180°c seems s bit high.... sure you don't mean 82°c(180°F)

No need for extra fans, just need to get the tune sorted so the factory thermofan comes on earlier. Ours never gets over 90°C

Yeah^^^^ my bad, that should have been 180°F

I run an electric water pump on mine with a digital controller set to 75 to 80 degrees c. The pump is so effective I need to blank off more than half of the VN V8 radiator in my VC.

I'm much the same with the missus VX L67, it was running cooler than the thermostat (with my mods) so now I run an overdrive pulley on the water pump and it still pulls the temps down to 80-81°C when cruising.
