recently i bougth a recondition power steering pump off ebay and it didnt come with the hub so i pressed the old one off my old pump and when i did that i put 2 hairline cracks from the outer edge to the holes drilled int he hub not the threaded holes , will this break after a while , i havnt got my license yet and i ahve been driving it with the small hairline crack and nothing has happened but is it possible it will l8er down the track of if it hasnt happened yet it proberly never will ? , also is it normal for the pulley to have a small buckle in it when the car is on and it moves side to side about 5mm?

thats abnormal, eg replace it, if it does crack, and comes adrift, it will go through the bonnet (depends at what rpm it lets go at)

u have bent this pulley, and hence the reason why its cracked.

I did one a little while ago.

I found the only way to get the pulley onto the new pump was to press it on in a vice, with a block of wood to protect the rear side of the pump. You have to take your time doing this. It took us about 10 mins.

Only drama we had was that the serpent belt had grown a few inches. Then we realised we had it on wrong.

    Nope.

We had the thingies (We call them "the elephant's c*nt" - don't ask) for the press in very close to the shaft on the pump, so that the pressure was as even as possible over the surface of the pulley. The resistance is right in the middle of the pulley where the shaft is, so that's the ideal place to conctrate as much pressure as possible.
