Cars Story:
Was just getting into the resto of my HZ wagon this year. Had it all planned out and was looking forward to having it back on the road. Then we went and purchased a bike for our 5yr old and then the first trip to get firewood and go riding was a pain in the ass. The Prado was good in the wet paddocks but not enough room for bikes and firewood, what to do?

Driving home from work this idea popped into my head, didn't Holden do a AWD Crewman? Hmmm. Get home, start searching and yep it exists. Put forward a proposal to the minister of finance, Sell wagon, save some cash, buy ute. Her first response was "As if someone will buy that ugly thing out there"

V8 - Tick
Ute - Tick
5 seats - Tick
4WD - Almost, lets see how CrossTrac copes with muddy paddocks

Managed to find a buyer for a half finished HZ wagon project and got the money I was looking for as well. Then the hunt was on, well for 3 days anyway. Then found this

Low K's and almost 100% stock but a fair gap between the $$ I had in hand and what the dealer was asking, Then I got "We can just put the rest on the credit card" she must have still been in shock from someone actually paying money to take the wagon away.

First job get it dirty!

Was nervous about how it would go as I have had trouble at this time of year even in the Prado but the CrossTrac system did a great job, the dash kept flashing low traction but it never got stuck.

Conclusion:
Didn't get bogged and pulled the load of wood like a champ so it stays :)

It did bottom out in a couple of places where I collect firewood hence the lift.

No plans to change the wheels for now. I was very happy to find something so tidy so quickly.

Not to concerned about selling the HZ. Already have a '67 Mini that doesn't get driven as much as I would like and if i kept the HZ there would just be another vehicle not being driven.

VU SS Series II Manual
Fast AWD ute that can comfortably cart around the family? Yes please!

Nice car and config!! Your crewman looks like it's in really great nick!

I wanted one a AWD SS crewman myself but couldn't justify some of the asking prices!! So I bought a VU SS and will be buying a cheap 4wd for going offroad.

Crewman was a wicked car. Dont know why aussies didn't buy more of them. Cab chassis, awd options, manual/auto options, SS option as well, comfortable, and can tow a nice 2500kg load too. Win win!

Hey all.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and all that.

Just fitted a new Manta 2.5 cat back as the old x-force rubbed on the tailshaft and the bod and was rusted out. The plan is to fit a set of Pacemakers soon but while I was under there I noticed that the cat pipes are smaller than 2.5.

My question is does anyone still do a pair of 2.5 cats to suit cross 8/adventra or is it going to be a custom job?

The ute has been going well untill a few weeks ago when the ominous series of abs, traction control, check engine and other random errors started going off.

Scanning for codes gave nothing but a couple of communication errors.

Disconnected the abs module and all the other warnings disappeared, only trac and brake stayed.

Rang a few wreckers only to be told good luck. Searching online prices varied between $700 to $1200. Thought I'll just ring Holden and see, yep we have one here $620.

Hope to get it fitted tonight and no more annoying beeps.

The new ABS module sorted the error codes.

Just fitted some new shocks on the rear.

Not a fun job in a carport at 4°c but hopefully they sort out the back end.
