hi
crs quote theres is no power loss from fitting one of there chargers,
It mite be my piping, but i beg to differ.
with the charger turned off it should hit 0psi at full throttle,
assuming theres no intake restrictions.
Anyway i found mine would run between 0psi and -5psi,
through out the rev range, where if it had no restriction it would be
on 0psi constantly,And thats with no intake pipe on the charger.

And i found that my inlet pipe is really restricting airflow,
at times even not letting the engine rev past 4000rpm
and dropping to 15/20 pounds of vacuum at full throttle.
i took it off and it was perfect.

My main question is has anyone else noticed a power loss or intake
restriction with the charger turned off?

or is it just my piping?

thanks

well imagine this, your trying to suck air though stationary turbines mate???
of course its going to be a restriction, i mean if you REALLY wanted to get around this you could make a inlet wastegate similar to the turbo setup and when the charger is off have the air vented around the charger, or you can just leave the charger on??? i mean the chargers belt driven and aslong as you dont drive under 2000rpm the car will stay in lean cruize mode and the charger wont make much boost which means it will be fuel efficient, but of course its going to use fuel if you fang it everywhere!!!

chargers arnt simply ment to just be turned on when needed, and probbly shouldnt be turned off regularly

Its should only have 1-2 Hg's (i think you mean Hg's not psi) of vacuum at full throttle when the blower is off. If there is any more than that your blower may well be damged, and as paradox616 said the blower is a restriction when turned off because the inlet air has to turn the rotors.

cheers for cleaering that up
i was starting to think my piping was a bit restrictive.
looks like crs are liars. lol
claiming you lose no power when the blower is off is bollicks.

when the crs chargers are not engaged there is a restriction as air has to flow through the charger while its turbines are stationary. It poses a very little restriction in my case.

oy,
vn v6vengence
do you have crs piping or diy?
cause i noticed the silicon adapter on my blower inlet getting
crushed when i shut the hood causing the intake restriction.
the blower doesnt restrict much air compared to my inlet.

i did a diy,
im still waitin to get my bov welded to the outlet,
then i need to relocate my pcv hose,
grind my alternator bracket to fit the custom idler bracket.
new belt and fix the inlet.

my blower doesnt touch the hood, only the silicon hose.
heres a pic of my major restriction (apart from the blower)
went i close the hood it squashes the silicon hose(not good).
