Went for a cruise to the summernats the other week and along the Hume Hwy had the cruise control on for about 100k`s then out of no where the car reved to about 4500 while the cruise control was on,had to back off the cruise control and not use it for a while, any ideas what would cause this?.or is it just something that happens when its left on for to long?.I was sitting on 110km/h when it done it,gearbox doesnt seem to have any issues, all went great except for that.

Unrelated to cruise control, and probably entirely unhelpful, but anyway:

I was driving along the freeway once and the car kept kicking back a gear when going down hill - turned out the lead on the back of the alternator had come loose. Not sure what would have happened if I had the cruise control on, possibly what happened to you.

had the exact same thing happen to me today when driving to Geelong. anyone out there got any ideas????

mine also did it when I turned cruise control off... had to roll in neutral for a bit then put it into drive, seemed to work alright after that first couple of times.

could it just be that the auto box getting too hot or something??? or something more specific to the cruise, although the second time it happened wasn't on cruise.....

Dont really like it when this happens so would like to know of any solutions.

    Cheers. :)

Sounds like fugged auto or getting too hot. Definatly the gbox though, nothing else can really cause that

    Not Cruise Control?

Question: Did the car speed up, or maintain the 110 speed set?

If the speed of the car did not surge well past 110, then there is nothing wrong with the cruise control. The issue has to be with the gearbox, or its control circuits.

The cruise control system only has a control on the throttle setting. Any gearbox response is inconsequential to the cruise control.

cheers, well with mine it stayed at the same speed the whole time 110kph. So I guessing I'm going to have to go n check all the fluids in the transmission and maybe get it looked at by someone. Only happened once or twice so far a few hours into a longish trip.

Will check out a few things, but hasnt happened since, n didn't happen on the way home at all either...
