hi does a vr/vs holden that doesnt have cruise control already have plugs hidden in the wiring for the cruise control gear to plug it all straight in
Some do, some don't.....most VS seem to especially later models. You can tell by looking at the location in the pic to see if you have the large connector hidden behind the trim (for plugging into CC module) - passenger side.
Cruise control also uses switches on the brake pedal to disconnect the cruise control when pressed. You won't have these installed.
With Cruise installed they also use a secondary stop light switch alongside the one for the brake lights. This way, in the event one fails, the other will cancel the cruise when the brakes are touched. Just to be extra safe. To the OP, as Hako has posted above, locate the long black plastic box that runs along under the passenger side front gaurd as per the picture. If the body harness with cruise wiring already there is fitted in your car, you will find the cruise stepper motor (module) plug unused and located in here. Also check your fuse panel under the steering column to see if both terminal blades are in the fuse position for 'cruise control'.
I was checking the cruise control module wiring out today in my VS as Im in the middle of replacing my cruise control module and have it all pulled out at the moment, and the cruise module wiring actually comes from over the drivers side, around over/in front of the radiator, and over to the left side of the engine bay..All the engine bay wiring in the car is all original,so it hasnt been moved or whatever....but it definitely doesnt come along the left side of the guard..
Yes thats correct. Cruise is part of the body harness through the firewall grommet on the drivers side, not the engine harness on the passenger side. It runs along the drives side and along the top radiator support. When I refer to the passenger side in my post above, this is because it is where holden tucked the plug away when not used from the factory. There is a black rectangular box/tube that sits here and has some wiring and vacuum hoses pass through it. If the body harness fitted has the cruise wiring already there, the plug should be found tucked away in here. Cheers
Yeah,I read above about it being stored under there if its included in the wiring, but not actually connected.I just thought Id mention that it comes around from the drivers side as I noticed today that thats where it comes from.....if you look at the pic posted above,it gives the impression that it comes from there down along the passenger side guard to the front of the car.My cruise module wiring wouldnt even reach back that far where its shown to be in the pic..
