Ok since i was like 12 years old dreaming about cars ive allways wanted to do a custom dash and centre console cause no car company ever builds one that im completely happy with. so... i know its a huge job and its probably not something ill achieve any time soon, but im curious on whats involved and seeing some allready done etc. I own a VS executive and ive got some ideas of things id like to do, where to start is the question, my centre console and the section around the headunit i think i can manage with a bit of fiberglass but the main dash is the real challenge. im curious if anyone has done it, or has any ideas on where to start, ive considered buying a 2nd dash and basically stripping off all the vinyl and crap and just throwing some fiberglass at it and see what happens, if i can use the shell of an old dash maybe itll make it a bit easier. Instrument cluster, could i do away with it and maybe use like an independant spedo mounted in the same area with say 2" gauges around or beside it? how would i keep my odometer? maybe pull apart a lvl 3 cluster and just use the digital parts at the bottom? so basically im throwing out some ideas here to maybe just start the planning process of where to start then maybe i can look at buying some cheap bits like dash and centre console and maybe start modding. all inputs and ideas appreciated
Be carful with cutting holes and fillng them in as there are things like the heater ducts and steel suppots underneath as it might not fit back in. I say go for it and take some pics as you go.
